Aintree Racecourse will be appointing a new chairman following the 2014 Grand National.
Rose Paterson who currently works as committee director at the racecourse is to succeed Lord Daresbury in April next year.
Lord Daresbury will join the board of stewards at course owner The Jockey Club and will also become chairman of Haydock Park Racecourse.
Peter Daresbury said: “Over 25 years I have made so many friends through Aintree and have been grateful to our dedicated and professional staff and to owners, trainers and jockeys who have been very supportive and will, I hope, continue to support my excellent successor.”
Rose Paterson said: “It is a privilege to succeed Peter Daresbury as chairman of Aintree after the next Grand National. Thanks to his inspired leadership and commitment over the past 25 years, this great course has never been in better shape.”
The Grand National has agreed a new three-year sponsorship deal with Crabbie’s this year and as a result of the sponsorship, the 2014 race will be the first in its history to offer £1m in prize money.Tags: Aintree, Grand National, Rose Paterson
